And just like that, the new “Man of Steel” trailer is here…

The movie isn’t due until next summer. That doesn’t that we can obsess over the next 12 months as to whether this is going to be any good or not…

Director Zach Snyder (of “300″ fame) and Producer Christopher Nolan have teamed up to once again breathe fresh air into the Superman franchise. Although the trailer is a bit esoteric, it does give us hope that the result is going to be an epic and emotional adventure.

Have a look at the first official trailer:

Assuming the roll of Clark Kent/Kal-El is square-jawed Brit, Henry Cavill. Never heard of him? Neither have we. Russell Crowe takes over the iconic role of Jor-El, with Amy Adams taking up the torch of Lois Lane. Rounding out the cast is Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Now let it be said that we had very little problem with the last film, “Superman Returns” starring Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, and Kevin Spacey. It was classic yet fresh, well-paced and action-packed. Let’s take a walk down memory lane…

Such a clever use of Marlon Brando‘s voiceover; it always gives us the chills. Whereas Bryan Singer worked to bring back the nostalgic feeling of Christopher Reeve, Snyder and Nolan look as though they intend to dramatize and intensify the brand — much the way that Nolan revamped the Batman franchise.

It will all remain to be seen. There will inevitably be much more said on this topic between now and then. For now, enjoy the trailer and the first few glimpses we have of the new Superman. “Man of Steel” hits theaters next July…
