“We, The Drowned” by Carsten Jensen. Just released in paperback here in the US, this 2006 Danish bestseller has quickly caught my attention. And judging by the size of it, I’m going to need to entire summer to finish it.

This around-the-globe tale is, at its heart, a seafaring adventure, but it is also more importantly about the small island town that these sailors originate from. Spanning 100 years, it’s as epic as it is intricate… and I’m only 10 pages into it!
