So last week I was utterly obsessed with new artist, KIMBRA. Maybe you remember my lengthy post about how amazing she is.
Well fear not, she’s still amazing.
Along the way though, I also discovered another new artist — Gotye, pronounced “Go-tea-yay”. A fellow resident Australia, Gotye – born Wouter De Backer — has just released his third album, “Making Mirrors” here in the United States, which features the track “Somebody I Used To Know” with none other than… KIMBRA.
Have a listen:
C’mon, who hasn’t felt this way about an ex?
I spent the better part of yesterday listening to the album in full. Clocking in at over 42 minutes, it’s an eclectic journey through oddball pop. At points Gotye‘s vocal soar across a song, while at others it’s very fragile and demure, adding to the jumbled feeling of the album. Fortunately, Gotye succeeds in making it work by skillfully tying the songs together while remaining stylistically experimental across the entire album.
“Making Mirrors“ is now available internationally in stores and on iTunes.
Check it out…
