At present, I have yet to really form an opinion about Miss Cher Lloyd. Although she came in 4th place on the 7th series of the X Factor UK, her talent has at times outshone the winner and the two runner-ups. So I guess she has that going for her…
Her first single “Swagger Jagger” was released and you either hated it or loved it, there’s seems to be no in between. I’ll throw myself on my sword and admit that I actually kind of like it. Her second single “With Ur Love” (featuring Mike Posner) is decidedly less annoying and has actually regained her some ground.
Have a look:
It remains to be seen whether the rest of “Sticks + Stones” elicits such dissident opinions about her place in the music industry. Lloyd‘s own attitude suggests a sense of entitlement, yet that might just be the result of her yet-to-be-deflated sense of youth and carefree. She is talented, it’s just not clear in which ways that talent will manifest itself…
“Sticks + Stones” is released on the 7th of the November.
