Rumors of Bjork‘s return have been swirling for a while now, and this week it became official — her 7th studio album, currently known as “Biophilia” is due to be released at some point this year.

Taking inspiration from the grandeur of the solar system, the sound is bold, and kind of quietly epic. And much like everything else that’s come before, it’s like nothing she’s ever done. Something you have to respect about Bjork.

Details are sparse, but apparently it’s being developed on an Apple iPad and will be released as a series of Apps leading up to the entire album’s release. A combination of music, live performances and multimedia, this is sounding more like a concept project than a full-blown album, but all of this remains to be seen.
